Choopa.com finished 2020 as the most reliable hosting company site in December, with no failed requests and the fastest average connection time. Choopa.com topped the table four times in 2020, more than any other hosting company site, and made a total of eight appearances in the top 10. The hosting provider offers cloud hosting, dedicated hosting and colocation in its own primary facility in Piscataway, New Jersey as well as smaller facilities in Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Tokyo.

Webair and Krystal Hosting complete the podium in second and third places. The top three hosting company sites each responded to all of Netcraft’s requests in December and are separated by average connection time. Webair, whose site appeared nine times in the top 10 in 2020, provides a range of services including cloud management solutions and disaster recovery. Krystal is based in the UK and offers a variety of cloud hosting solutions with in-house support. Krystal appeared in the top 10 seven times in the same period.

Linux continues to be the most popular operating system of choice and dominated the table in 2020 with 101 appearances. FreeBSD made 11 appearances and was used by New York Internet (NYI) and Swishmail. SmartOS, used by EveryCity, also made eight appearances in the top 10 in 2020.

Netcraft measures and makes available the response times of around twenty leading hosting providers’ sites. The performance measurements are made at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.

From a customer’s point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more pertinent than outages on hosting companies’ own sites, as this gives a pointer to reliability of routing, and this is why we choose to rank our table by fewest failed requests, rather than shortest periods of outage. In the event the number of failed requests are equal then sites are ranked by average connection times.

Information on the measurement process and current measurements is available.
